OPP VEHICLE STRUCK ON HIGHWAY 6

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team investigated a motor vehicle collision on Highway 6.

On February 20, 2023, at approximately 7:20 a.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision near the south end of Highway 6.   

A motor vehicle left a commercial parking lot, turning northbound onto Highway 6. Upon entering the northbound lane, the vehicle struck a fully marked police vehicle causing extensive damage to both vehicles. There were no reported injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old from Espanola has been charged with Careless Driving.

The OPP reminds all motorists to slow down and be aware of their surroundings. Every person who operates a motor vehicle has a responsibility to ensure they are doing their part to keep themselves, their passengers and other road users safe.
