By Rosalind Russell – There is an outbreak of COVID-19 at the long-term care home in Gore Bay.
Manitoulin Lodge administrator Jaime-Lynn Kalmikov says the outbreak sees ten residents affected as of Monday evening, but no staff members.
She says visitor restrictions are now in place with only essential caregivers having access or palliative care visitations.
All COVID-19 protocols are in place says Kalmikov and that includes testing and wearing masks.
She adds there will be regular updates sent out to families and essential caregivers while the declaration of an outbreak is in place.

Essential visitors are the only type of visitors allowed when a resident is isolating or resides in a home or area of the home in an outbreak. General visitors will not be permitted in the outbreak area while the home area is in Outbreak unless for palliative reasons. The home area is also closed to admissions during this time.
