Playground initiative receives support from Espanola Lions

By Rosalind Russell A group of parents are grateful for a donation by an Espanola club which will help them buy playground equipment for a new school.

Ecole la Renaissance and Sacred Heart opened recently, but playground equipment is not part of the funding by the province, so parents created the Playground Advisory Group led by President Alannah Pelletier.

She says they were pleased to accept a $1,000 donation for Espanola Lions Club President Dennis Shepitka.

The group is trying to raise $60,000 through a sponsorship program.

She says all donations will be acknowledged and is also encouraging the public to look at purchasing a tree for the school.

She adds donations can be made directly through the school office with all donations over $20 receiving a tax receipt.
