By Rosalind Russell – Dozens of people gathered last night in Innisfil, north of Toronto, for a candle-light vigil to honour two South Simcoe police officers killed in a shootout Tuesday evening.
Police say 33-year-old Constable Devon Northrup and 54-year-old Constable Morgan Russell were called to a disturbance at a home in Innisfil just before 8 pm.
They died in hospital, while a 23 year old suspect was killed in the exchange of gunfire.
So far, there’s no known motive for the attack.
The Special Investigations Unit and the York Regional police are conducting investigations.
