Pollution payments going up

By Rosalind Russell – You’ll be getting a bit more from the federal government next year.

The feds are raising Climate Action Incentive Payments to Canadians.

In Ontario, single adults without children can expect four-hundred-and-eighty-eight dollars between April of 2023 and January of 2024, with a family of four getting nine-hundred-and-seventy-six, about a thirty percent increase than this year.

Canadians automatically qualify for the payment when filing their annual income tax return.

The money comes out of a federal program which charges organizations for the pollution they create, with ninety percent of proceeds returning to citizens’ pockets and the rest going to small businesses and Indigenous groups.
