Rainbow Board achieves 100 per cent certification in EcoSchools Canada

By Rosalind Russell – When Rainbow District School Board declared a climate change emergency, a commitment was made to have all its schools EcoSchools Canada Certified by 2022.

EcoSchools Canada Program Manager Clara Luke says that mission has been accomplished, adding the board is one of only two school boards in Canada to have achieved this distinction in the 2021-2022 school year.

She says being a certified EcoSchool means that a school is committed to environmental sustainability and climate action.

Luke congratulated all Rainbow Schools and its members who worked so hard during another challenging year to prioritize climate action and sustainability.

Board chair Bob Clement says the board made the commitment to 100 per cent certification last September and is especially proud that not only did all the schools accomplish their goals, but they are also one of only two school boards across Canada to do so.

Clement congratulated all the member schools and says they will now focus on maintaining that certification in the coming school year.  Photo: Planting trees will always be part of the Eco mission for staff and students at A.B.
