Rainbow District School Board reviewing plan for vacant AB ELLIS PS property

By Rosalind Russell – The former AB Ellis Public School property plans are under review by the Rainbow District School Board.

The last part of the building, which housed the original 1919 structure, was demolished last week and the cleanup of the building waste is now underway.

Following inquiries by the public, the board is looking at further developing the plan for what will be a parking lot with green space, according to communications spokesperson Nicole Charette.

She says the board is currently reviewing the site plan to maximize the use of the area and is looking at the possibility of incorporating more elements than just parking and green space.
Charette says the next step is to engage in further consultations on what the public would like to see to create something special for staff, students, and the wider community.

She emphasizes the project will be guided by sustainability with a focus on well-being and look forward to sharing more information as the plan evolves.
