Remembrance Day celebrations set for local schools

By Rosalind Russell – It has been several years since members of the Legion have been able to attend a Remembrance Day ceremony at a local school, but that changes this year.
Members of Espanola Royal Canadian Legion Branch #39 will be attending several school ceremonies throughout the day tomorrow according to President Gary McPherson.
However, because of ongoing COVID mandates, there will be no ceremony hosted by the Legion at the seniors centre this year.
McPherson adds the public can attend their Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony on Friday at 10:45 am for the short march followed by the Laying of Wreaths and chili luncheon. The Legion will return to schools tomorrow to mark Remembrance Day. This photo is the honour guide in attendance at Espanola High School in 2017.
