(ESPANOLA, ON) – On August 16, 2022, the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Panache Lake Road in the Town of Espanola.
At approximately 4:20 p.m. a vehicle entered the checkpoint and police determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered that resulted in a fail and the driver was subsequently arrested.
Jeremy JORDAN, 48-years-old from Espanola was charged with:
- Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code (two counts), contrary to section 320.18(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the CC
- Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC
- Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on October 21, 2022.
