By Rosalind Russell – People sure do love their chocolate chip cookies and the success of this year’s Smile Cookie Campaign is proof.
Cookies featuring either pink or blue smiles were sold throughout the six local Tim Hortons franchises with volunteers manning the frosting booths all last week.
In the end, the tasty favourites added up to some sweet sales: $9,791 in Elliot Lake in support of the upcoming children’s toy telethon; $16,541 in Espanola and McKerrow for the Espanola Helping Hand Food Bank; $7,623 from the two Blind River locations for the North Shore Health Network and $5,574 for Local Food Manitoulin out of the Little Current franchise.
For cookies that sell for one dollar each, that’s a lot of chocolate … the owners thank everyone for their support of the local initiatives.
Photo: 102, 103 and counting … Frosting cookies led to some great numbers for this year’s Smile Cookie Campaign, nearly $40,000 from all six local area Tim Hortons franchises with the money going to some great causes.
