Stay home if you can

By Rosalind Russell – Police are asking you to stay off the roads today, if at all possible.

That major winter storm now crossing much of the province has already brought freezing rain to many locations.

Heavy snow is expected through today and into tomorrow, to be whipped up by high winds, which could cause sudden visibility problems on the highways.

Forecasters say some areas could receive more than 50 centimetres of snow before the storm moves out on Saturday.

Airlines are announcing dozens of flight delays and cancellations.

With more snow also coming down in Vancouver as well, Westjet has announced it’s cancelling all flights today out of Ontario and B-C.
