By Rosalind Russell – Espanola’s Canada Day Duck Race sold out their tickets this year, thanks to the assistance of a local club.
The Espanola Lions Club agreed to help out North Shore Search and Rescue in selling the tickets for the popular event because of a lack of volunteers within the organization.
The Lions sold out all the tickets and turned over the proceeds of $14,000 to the rescue unit this week.
The funds will go towards a new rescue vehicle housed with related equipment to be used by the unit when called out for search and rescue operations.
The Lions will also assist the unit once again next July.
