By Rosalind Russell – Officials say reaching a settlement outside of the courtroom continues to be the goal in the Robinson-Huron Treaty annuities case.
Litigation was put on hold earlier this month to allow for all parties to come to the table for two weeks of negotiations.
On Monday, Canada, Ontario and the 21 Robinson Huron Treaty First Nations, which also includes all the First Nations in our local area, sought a further adjournment to continue the negotiations.
They later announced on social media that they will continue to work together to try to reach a settlement.
The final stage of the process involves compensation.
