By Rosalind Russell – Carol Hughes, the MP for Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing rose in the House today to talk about the important role of the inaugural Regional Canada Women Empowerment Pageant.
She says 24 women advocated for a variety of women’s issues from domestic violence, the housing and opioid crisis, gender equality, and more at the event held in Sudbury over the past weekend.
She points out the weekend included workshops focusing on women’s health and well-being and every woman’s platform is important in helping society move forward in growing communities.
Hughes also pointed out the official charity of the event is the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer raising collectively $34,000 for the organization this year.
