Plans in place to mark Indigenous Peoples Day in Espanola

By Rosalind Russell – Noojmowin Teg will be heading up the Solstice and Indigenous Peoples Day  in Espanola on Saturday (June 21).

Crystal Clark-McGregor with the health centre says the day will include a formal welcome followed by several workshops including Rainbow Farm North focusing on native plants and Cheyanne Pitawanakwat with Fish Tan Creations and more.

She says the event starts at 10 am and runs until 1:30 pm at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex.

Officials say the cultural event gives Canadians the opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal people and their contributions towards the country’s development and progress.
