By Rosalind Russell – Noojmowin Teg’s Solstice Day and National Indigenous Peoples Day in Espanola attracted a number of curious people to take in the various booths, activities and food.
Booths were set up at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex inside and despite rain and thunderstorms some avid members of the public took in the events on Saturday, June 21st.
The booths included plants as natural healers, making clothing and other items out of fish skins, children’s activities including archery and health-related services.
The afternoon was capped off with a lunch of corn soup, scone dogs, Indian tacos and strawberry shortcake.
