Postal vote finally underway

By Rosalind Russell – More than 53-thousand Canadian Union of Postal Workers have begun voting on Canada Post’s final contract offer.
The notice of vote was issued last week by the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
The offer includes over 13% wage increases over the four years, a signing bonus, new part-time positions for weekend parcel delivery, and more.
Canada Post says the uncertainty over strike activity – which CUP-W has limited to a ban on overtime since May — is taking a toll.
The corporation says losses increased in June to approximately $10 million a day – more than double the daily average in the same month last year.
