Matt O’Neill, former Espanola morning host, has passed away

By Rosalind Russell – A popular former Espanola radio morning host has passed away.

Matt O’Neill worked at the former CKNS radio station in the 1990s, launching his career in the industry for over 30 years.

Following his local stint, he moved west working in stations in British Columbia and eventually making his way to Calgary where he was part of Jack FM for over 12 years.

O’Neill did return for a brief stint, but his health issues led to his eventual withdrawal from on-air work.

The broadcaster shared in January 2024, shared on Twitter that he had been diagnosed with cancer.

He was 55.
