By Louise Laplante and Grant Lewis – Board members of Community Living Espanola,” CLE,” and members of the Lions club, recently gathered around the new….drum roll please…Ram Promaster Side Entry Wheelchair Van. What a beauty and what an improvement over the old 2012 Wheelchair Van. The wise adage, “In with the new and OUT with the old” certainly applies here.
The new van will expand the programs offered to CLE clients. Trips to medical appointments, new itineraries for day trips, access to community events , will all be more comfortable and much safer for everyone. I have it by a reliable source, that it is a dream to drive!!
So exactly what is new; side entry ramp provides easier, and barrier free access; flexible seating; seats can be rearranged, removed or added; accommodation for eight ambulatory seats or three wheelchairs. The list goes on.
The Espanola Lions was pleased to donate over $60,000 to cover the price tag. Funds were donated in whole, or through proceeds from Catch the Ace. The Lions wish both the clients and staff who will use the new Van…bon voyage!
