By Rosalind Russell – The Manitoulin Health Centre with sites in Little Current and Mindemoya has achieved its $fundraising goal to implement smart infusion pumps at both facilities.
Centre CEO, President Paula Fields says that the “Smart Infusion, Smarter Care.” fundraising campaign has successfully met its $350,000 goal.
She says smart infusion pumps are vital tools in modern healthcare, significantly reducing medication errors and improving patient outcomes by ensuring the precise delivery of medications. She adds their integration into care practices will provide greater safety, particularly for critically ill patients, while strengthening the hospital’s ability to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care close to home.
Fields says the pumps will be installed this fall and be online once staff has completed their training.
Dennis McGregor, Chair of the MHC Board of Directors, adds “We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed—whether through donations, supporting the MHC Auxiliaries, attending fundraisers, or supporting annual events like the Tour de Meldrum. Your efforts directly impact patient care on Manitoulin Island, and this success belongs to the whole community.”
