INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE ASSAULT INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested in connection with an intimate partner violence (IPV) investigation.

On Wednesday, October 12, 2025, the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call reporting an IPV-related assault involving a vehicle. Police located the suspect vehicle shortly after on Highway 6 in Espanola and made an arrest.

As a result, one person was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Dangerous operation
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

To protect the identity of the victim, the name of the accused will not be released.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and remains in custody pending a future court appearance.

The OPP is committed to addressing all forms of intimate partner violence, and wants survivors of intimate partner violence to know that you are not alone. Anyone experiencing or witnessing such violence is encouraged to come forward and contact police. Support services are available through law enforcement and community organizations.
