Catch the Ace at work again

By Grant Lewis – We all know some birds fly south for the winter, bears den up and hibernate, frogs bury themselves in mud, all to avoid winter’s harsh weather. But what about those many dedicated kids who love to play soccer all year round? Well they move indoors to the new gym at La Renaissance School starting in October and ending in February these soccer enthusiasts enjoy their favourite sport all year round. Their ages range from 7years old to 14. There are three volunteer coaches to teach basic skills to the younger players while older kids receive skill and strategy lessons. There are no teams since emphasis is placed on sportsmanship and enjoyment of the game. There are however, three cardinal rules: respect the coaches, no body contact, and to have fun. The Espanola Lions Club applauds the objectives and direction of this great program. The club was pleased to present the Espanola Minor Soccer League a check for $9,000 from Catch the Ace. The monies will be used to purchase soccer balls, new pennies and nets.  Enjoy the season everyone out of the cold!
