Tree of Lights set to go in Elliot Lake

By Rosalind Russell – The St. Joseph’s Foundation is having its annual Tree of Lights fundraiser.

Deborah Dubois, chair of the foundation says this year, the foundation will honour the late Dr. Fred Young and Louis Ucci.

She says Dr. Young practiced medicine for over 50 years continuing to practice medicine into his nineties while Ucci was devoted to youth sports and volunteered with the boards of the Children’s Aid Society, Retirement Living and Entertainment Series.

Dubois adds participants can purchase bulbs in memory of loved one, $10 each or three for $25.

The funds this year will go towards the Essential Equipment Advancement Project with a goal of $250,000.

The evening’s highlight will be the Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 7 at 6 p.m., where family members will light up the tree.

The event will also feature musical performances by children from the local Catholic school and the Jewels of Harmony, adding to the festive atmosphere.

“This project is vital for our community, as it will assist in all areas of the hospital,” Dubois explained. The project coordinators—Cleta Sarich, Mary Sue Lessard, and Cherry Gunning—are excited about the potential impact of this initiative.

Participants can purchase bulbs at local banks, the hospital switchboard, or through the Foundation’s website at www.sjfhfound.com via the Canada Helps Link.
