Manitoulin Secondary School hosts its 56th annual bursaries and awards night

By Rosalind Russell – It has been a long-time tradition for Manitoulin Secondary School, 56 years, to host their annual bursaries and awards night just before the Christmas break and this year was no exception.

This year, there was a new special bursary added to honour the legacy of the late Constable Marc Hovigh of the Manitoulin OPP, who died in the line of duty five years ago.

The OPP Youth Foundation was represented by retired OPP Provincial Constables Marie Ford and Steve Redmond at the Manitoulin Secondary School Award Night last Thursday evening.

The presented the First Annual OPPYF Provincial Constable Marc Hovingh Memorial Bursary to Alexis McVey.
McVey was especially proud to receive the award by Marc’s widow, Lianne Hovingh,

She is attending her first years in post secondary education studying kinesiology.

Just one of many deserving recipients to receive acknowledgement for their academic excellence during their time at Manitoulin Secondary School in M’Chigeeng.
