By Rosalind Russell – Before the Christmas break, elementary students took part in a workshop sharing French Canadian Holidays traditions.
Grade 4 and 5 students at École catholique La Renaissance in Espanola took part in a hands-on workshop celebrating French Canadian culture.
With guidance from Rodney Meilleur (Identity-Building Facilitator at Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon), musician Duncan Cameron, and Lynn Maclean (retired CSC Nouvelon principal), students explored French Canadian Christmas traditions, played wooden spoons, and brought the lively Bastringue dance to life.
The day concluded with a dynamic performance for the school community during a showcase in the gymnasium.
