Spanish area woman needs wedding dresses for preemie angels

By Rosalind Russell – A Spanish area woman who has retired from palliative care is focusing her retirement on producing original gowns for preemies who have passed away and micro-wraps for neo-natal babies.

Deb Sharp who is almost 70, says she retired after 30 years as a palliative care nurse (in Toronto, Hamilton and London) and knew about angel gowns from families and staffers.

She asks for donations of wedding dresses and turns them into angel gowns for micro, teeny and standard preemies and their families who have lost their infant child.

She also makes micro-wraps for tiny babies, one- to – two- pounds, that allows parents to cuddle their little ones and keeps them warm, donating them to the neo unit at Heath Sciences North.

Sharp says it is her way to keep involved with the work she enjoyed over the years, and to also give back to the most vulnerable newborns.

Having fought and won a battle against cancer, she says life is too short, and there are simple ways that people can help others.

Anyone wishing to donate a wedding, or confirmation gown, is asked to contact Sharp on her Facebook page at Deb Sharp, adding she will drive out to meet individuals for pickup.
