Jordan’s Princple funding commitment by the feds

By Rosalind Russell – Ottawa is committing $1.55 billion to a program that ensures First Nations children have equal access to the care and services they need to live healthy, happy lives.

The federal funding will renew Jordan’s Principle until the end of March next year.

The program allows families to submit requests for needs like medical and mental health services, educational supports, physiotherapy and more.

Officials say the money responds to sustained demand over the past decade and will protect uninterrupted access to essential supports for children.

They add between July 2016 and September last year more than 10 million products, services, and supports were approved under Jordan’s Principle.
