Fishing for a Cure Fundraiser around the corner

By Rosalind Russell – Volunteers have come together to organize an inaugural fishing derby in memory of a North Shore resident who died from suicide last year.

Organizer Rosie Podlatis, says it was a hard year for many people with losing Greg Grant and they want to host the event to help others in crisis, so all donations will go towards a local organization to assist with mental health and suicide awareness.

She says the derby is set for Saturday, March 7th from 10 am to 4 pm at Birch Lake and everyone is invited to attend.

She says cash donations are welcome and/or e-transfers for anyone wishing to support the fundraiser.

Podlatis adds the lake can be accessed by snowmachine or quad at the public boat launch or by vehicle at 801A4 West Branch Road.

If you wish to make a donation by e-transfer, call John or Rosie at 705-862-2099, leave your name first and last and they will get back to you.
