By Rosalind Russell – A motion to rescind support of the Massey Solar Project has been defeated by Sables-Spanish Rivers Township.
It means Potentia Renewables now gets the go-ahead to apply for the 600-acre solar project. The motion was defeated in a recorded vote of five to one.
It was originally brought forward by Councillor Mike Merceica who says there has not been enough answers and public engagement.
He was the sole Councillor to support rescinding the original motion.
Other Councillors pointed out the project met all the legal requirements under the Official Plan, is in its initial stages and once a concrete proposal comes to council, there will be public consultation and engagement including from outside communities.
