By Rosalind Russell – Algoma Public Health has began issuing suspension orders for students of incomplete vaccination records.
According to the release, Under Ontario’s Immunization of School Pupils Act, students must be vaccinated against certain diseases to attend school.
The agency regularly reviews student immunization records to ensure they are complete and up to date.
With suspension orders now being issued to students with incomplete records, APH is urging prompt action to avoid students being temporarily removed from school later this spring.
Letters sent to parents explain what information is missing, including a suspension order, and if the records are not updated, students could be suspended for up to 20 school days this Spring.
