By Rosalind Russell – The Spanish River Resort & Campgrounds is hosting the Jigging for Giants Walleye Catch & Release Tournament to raise funds for the Spanish Library.
Resort operations manager David Rittberg says they will be running the derby on May 9 and 10 in Zone 14 to raise funds for the local library, and to also promote angling in the North Shore Corridor.
He says several businesses across the corridor and Manitoulin Island are supporting the derby with anglers choosing to fish either day or on both days.

Entry cards can be purchased at Fishy Fishy Bang Bang in Espanola, the Elliot Lake Trading Post, the Sault Saint Marie Trading Post, Epic Fishing Tackle in Sudbury, Moxys in Lively, Williamson’s Up Top Sports in Mindemoya, and Sure Catch Baits in Spanish.
Prizes include campaign stays, cash and more.
