By Rosalind Russell – The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police has named a Manitoulin Island police chief as a leader worthy of recognition.
Wikwemikong Police Service Chief Ron Gignac was presented with the Leadership Award from the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police on Tuesday.
According to the release, those who have the privilege of working alongside him see every day what this recognition represents. Adding leadership for Chief Gignac isn’t just a title; it’s how he shows up. Not only does he lead by example, but he cares deeply about the people he serves and his staff.
The award also recognizes that in just two years, the positive changes he has helped bring to fruition, including many new programs, have made a big difference within the community.
