National Indigenous People’s Day celebrated in Espanola

By Rosalind Russell – Noojmowin Teg hosted National Indigenous People’s Day celebrations in Espanola yesterday.

The organization had a number of artisans on site who provided the public with the opportunity of making Powwow Dancing Sticks and personalized magnets or buttons sharing their own message.

There was also archery lessons an several vendors providing information such as the Espanola Public Library and its stories project, the UCCM Justice Project, plants in the wild and more.

The day was rounded out with information about Noojmowin Teg services and the opportunity to taste Indigenous food, such as wild rice salad and bean soup.
