


By Rosalind Russell – Algoma Manitoulin MPP Bill Rosenberg took the opportunity, at his community BBQ this past weekend to make several funding announcements for Elliot Lake projects.
According to the release, community funding recipients included the Elliot Lake Entertainment Series, Elliot Lake Granite and Social Club and Seniors Active Living Centre.
The City of Elliot Lake received several grants including $50,000 for the Rural Ontario Development Program for an Economic Development Strategy, $50,000 from the Emergency Response Funding for a generator for the local fire hall, and $405,215 in NOHFC funding for the renovation of the Elliot Lake Arts & Heritage Centre.
Nearly $94,000 from Community Safety and Policing funding is going towards the CCTV Cameras in the downtown core and Trillium funding of $200,000 was provided for climate control equipment for the Collins Hall.
Rosenberg also focused on seniors providing just over a $17,000 Seniors Community Grant for the Dementia Wellness Program, as well as recognition of the city as an Age Friendly Community and recognition of Mike Marcella as Elliot Lake’s Senior of the Year!
