
(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a drowning incident at Low Island Park in Little Current.
On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Manitoulin OPP received a call reporting a person in distress in the water at the beach. The individual was pulled from the water and was not showing signs of life.
Thanks to the immediate action of several bystanders, who began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while awaiting emergency medical services, the individual regained vital signs prior to the arrival of paramedics.
The individual was transported to hospital for further medical treatment.
The Manitoulin OPP would like to express its sincere appreciation to the members of the public who acted quickly to assist. Their efforts in bringing the individual to shore and providing CPR played a critical role in this outcome.
This incident was determined to be non-suspicious, and no further investigation is required.
