By Rosalind Russell – The City of Elliot Lake has hired a new Public Works director for the city.
According to the release, Derek Young from Pelham will be joining the team as the new Director of Public Works, effective August 10, 2026.
Young brings over 15 years of experience in engineering, public works, and infrastructure management, most recently as Manager of Engineering for the Town of Pelham.
He is not only a Certified Technician but also holds several professional designations covering a wide range of the work involved in the department, including Certified Road Supervisor (CRS), Road Construction Senior Inspector (RCSI), Asset Management Professional (AMP), Road Construction Contract Administrator (RCCA), and Drainage Superintendent.
