By Rosalind Russell – It’s a special day in Billings Township on Manitoulin Island today with the local fire department celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Safety Officer Captain Bill Orford says the celebration, including speeches, barbecue and various presentations, will take place at the fire station today from 10 am to noon.
He adds that MPP Bill Rosenberg and local emergency medical services providers will join personnel, their families and supporters of the local fire department in the celebration.
The public is invited to attend and take in the displays and the special ceremony that will take place at 1 pm at the fire hall in Kagawong.
