By Rosalind Russell – An Espanola woman, Kristin Pichoskie, the founder of the group, Oaks Tree of Love, says it is important to acknowledge lost pregnancies and newborns.
Pichoskie says the campaign was named in memory of her son, Oak Beaudyn Noel, who passed away four days after his birth in March 2023.
She says it supports families who have experienced pregnancy loss, infant loss, and child loss through memory boxes, remembrance projects, advocacy, awareness, and community support.
Pichoskie extends a thank you to the Espanola Council, which has proclaimed October 15 as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, adding that the public can mark the day with the Wave of Light by lighting pink, blue and white candles.
She adds the CN Tower, Sudbury Water Tower and other landmarks will also be lit up in pink, blue and white as part of the campaign honouring the lost children.
