By Rosalind Russell – Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services reported a year of growth and expanded services at its Annual General Assembly late last week to its members, staff and supporters at a gathering in Sault. Ste. Marie.
CEO Carol Eshkakogan, says the organization delivers culturally grounded health services to First Nation and urban Indigenous communities across northeastern Ontario, including along the North Shore Corridor and Manitoulin Island.
Eshkakogan emphasises their focus remains on providing primary care and as of March 2026, the organization provided primary care to more than 5,300 attached relatives across 11 First Nation communities and the urban Indigenous population in Sault Ste. Marie.
She adds there has been more programming added including access to care through more virtual services, new endocrinology and women’s health clinics, and expanded support for people living with dementia and those needing palliative care. She says the work continues going into 2027 and thanks the wider community for its continued support and advocacy for the work the organization provides.
