Hometown boy does good … on the ice

By Rosalind Russell – The Town of Espanola will be able to cheer on one of their own when the junior A team, the Espanola Paper Kings, take to the ice.

This season, Espanola’s own 16-year-old Carter Mullen is currently playing for the Copper Cliff REDS U18 AA.

He is also an affiliated player with the Paper Kings, practicing with them times per week in addition to his Copper Cliff team.

He was called up to play as a forward with the team this past Saturday, which delighted the hometown audience.

Mullen is hoping to get in on more games for the rest of the season with the goal of becoming a full-time member eventually.

The majority of players with the team come from various communities from across Canada and the United States, so having a hometown boy on the team is also considered a boost for the Paper Kings.
