Inflation up in Canada

By Rosalind Russell – Inflation was up 1.9% year-over-year in August — and up from the 1.7% increase in July.

Stats Canada reports gas prices fell to a lesser extent, compared to August last year leading to faster growth in inflation.

At the grocery store, the price of fresh fruit was down slightly while prices for meat went up over 7%. Prices for cellular services fell at a slower pace while a drop in the cost of travel tours pushed down the cost of travel services.
