
By Rosalind Russell – A sprinkler malfunction in mid-December caused major damage at the Mindemoya site of the Manitoulin Health Centre.
Officials say the malfunction, which saw broken pipes flood the lower levels, occurred in mid-December (Thursday, December 18th) with the health team offices suffering the most damage.
For the time being, the team has been relocated elsewhere in the building and insurance assessment is expected to be get underway with insurance adjusters this week.
The health centre says the team will be offering primary care only for the time being and since their phone and computer systems were also affected, with patients being contacted to reschedule their appointments starting today.
The team says they encourage the public to be patient while they work their way through the cleanup and repair process stressing, they will continue to support their health care needs.
