New bike park on Manitoulin Island to be highlighted at Toronto show

By Rosalind Russell – A new bike park is set to open this year on Manitoulin Island and will be highlighted at a major outdoor show next month in advance of its grand opening.

Manitoulin Island Cycle President, Maja Mielonen, says the North Channel Bike Park is set to become the island’s first purpose-built flow trails, featuring five kilometres of Euro-style, short gravity trails suitable for all mountain bikers.

She says the park will also include a climbing trail and a pump track in the base area.

Mielonen adds the grand opening is set for Saturday, June 13th and the park is set to become a major tourism attraction for the Island.

She says to prepare for that opening, the park will also be featured at the Northern Ontario Pavilion at the Toronto Outdoor Show February 20-22nd.
