By Rosalind Russell – The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities has a new president.
Kapuskasing Mayor Dave Plourde was elected to the position on Friday.
Plourde was elected as Mayor of the Town of Kapuskasing on October 22, 2018.
Prior to being elected as Mayor of Kapuskasing, he served as a Municipal Councillor for the Town of Kapuskasing since 1994. During his 28 years and served on numerous boards and committees.
He succeeds Danny Whalen, who was recognized for his 15 years of service on the board, including the past eight as president.
North Bay Deputy Mayor Maggie Horsfield was also elected First Vice President while Mayor Lynn Watson of Echo Bay is Second V-P.
FONOM says it looks forward to building on this momentum under its new leadership team as it continues to advocate for municipalities across Northeastern Ontario.
