Nouvelon schools in Algoma shine at Board’s 3rd Esports Tournament

By Rosalind Russell – Dozen’s of students took part in the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools Third Annual Esports Tournament at the beginning of the month.

Education director Tom Michaud (ME -show) says 41 teams from 18 of their schools participated in the tourney held in Sudbury, including students from Spanish, Blind River and Elliot Lake.

He adds students from grades 5 to 12 competed virtually in high-energy and competitive matches of the game Rocket League, aiming to secure a spot in the tournament finals.

Michaud says the program is a huge success having started out with just 24 teams from nine schools. 

He says the board is already preparing for the launch of its next esports season which will feature the popular game, Mario Kart.
