Treaty annuities update – another settlement reached
By Rosalind Russell – All three parties involved in the Robinson Huron Treaty Annuities Case have now signed off on a settlement agreement involving past compensation.
Officials with the Robinson Huron Treaty Litigation Fund say both the governments of Canada and Ontario have now signed the agreement.
This after the Robinson Huron Chiefs and Trustees met and signed the $10 billion proposed settlement agreement earlier this month.
The agreement was reached last June and involves 21 First Nations including all those in our local area.
Engagement sessions will now be held to provide information and make decisions on disbursing the fund at the local level.
