By Rosalind Russell – The Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre in Val Caron is not taking in any new injured or ill wildlife while they look for more veterinary support for their operations.
Spokesperson Gloria Massicotte says the centre is grateful their current veterinarian continues to provide services for turtles; however, they do not have the ability to stabilize, treat trauma, or provide humane euthanasia to other species of wildlife in Northern Ontario.
She says the centre is taking care of over 140 animals now in their care, but if anyone finds an animal that needs help, they will have to go to the Ontario Wildlife Rescue website.
She adds they hope to draw the interest of other local veterinarians so they can return to full-service status.
