This week’s tip is to create a meal plan before going to the grocery store to minimize food waste!

Did you know that food waste is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions each year? This is because as a planet, we waste 1.3 billion tonnes of food annually. This food is sent to landfills where it decomposes and emits methane, a greenhouse gas that is almost 30x more potent than carbon dioxide.

How do we combat this? Eat our food instead of throwing it out! By creating a meal plan before you head to the grocery store, you are more likely to only buy what you’ll need for the week and less likely to have to throw out spoiled food.

Try it next time you grocery shop and see the difference it makes!
