Manitoulin Island company assisting pets displaced by wildfires

By Rosalind Russell – As wildfires continue to displace communities across Manitoba and Northern Ontario, a Manitoulin Island company is playing a role in delivering pet food supplies.
Manitoulin Transport, based out of Gore Bay, has provided 20 pallets of emergency pet food supplies to help feed the hundreds of pets impacted by the wildfires in Manitoba.
The delivery is being done in partnership with the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA (HBSPCA) and Uber Freight. Company president, Jeff King, says the company has delivered more than 20,000 pounds of emergency pet food to Save a Dog Network Canada in Winnipeg adding the critical delivery was provided at no cost ensuring rapid access to food for displaced animals across Manitoba.
“We’re proud to work alongside the HBSPCA to help ensure that pets, and the people who care for them, receive the supplies they need during these challenging times. We are committed to doing everything we can. It’s important to be there when it matters most.”
“These efforts underscore what’s possible when dedicated partners come together, “says CEO John Gerrard.
He adds, “Manitoulin Transport’s dedication and unwavering commitment to this cause made it possible to get food into some of the hardest-hit areas quickly and safely.”
