By Rosalind Russell – Another Sudbury landmark is being demolished.
St. Joseph’s – Sudbury General Hospital demolishment began early last week and over half the building has already been demolished.
Heavy machinery is on site at the Panoramic Properties-owned old hospital building on Paris Street to tear down the historic structure, built in 1950.
Panoramic Properties has owned the building since 2010, but it remained vacant when the deal for a condominium project failed to move forward.
The company’s latest plan, a 530-unit residential property consisting of three towers, was given approval by council last year.
According to the city, the company has told them the new project is to begin in the Spring of next year, there has been no definite timeline issued publicly by Panoramic.
